Resource Matters at a glance

Resource Matters works to ensure that Congo’ natural resources benefit its population: that copper, cobalt and lithium contribute to public revenue, and that water, wind and solar energy help people and local businesses access electricity.

Our strategy

Vision

The distribution of benefits from natural resources is a matter of political and economic decisions.

Our vision is of a Democratic Republic of the Congo where natural resource governance fully contributes to the people’s economic and social development.

Mission

We work to ensure that natural resource management is transparent, accountable, and geared toward tangible benefits for citizens.

We combat corruption and the illicit state capture by national and international elites.

Focus

Resource Matters works in two sectors: mining and electricity.

In the mining sector, we focus on large-scale industrial projects that have a macroeconomic impact.

In the electricity sector, we examine human-scale solutions that can provide clean, sustainable, and affordable energy.

Actions

We carry out research and analysis of natural resource governance issues, advocate for greater transparency and accountability, collaborate with civil society, and facilitate public dialogue among stakeholders.
