Jimmy Munguriek

Country Director - DRC

Jimmy Munguriek Ufoy is Country Director for the Democratic Republic of Congo at Resource Matters, where he leads the organisation’s work in the country and its engagement with stakeholders on issues related to natural resource governance.

Before joining Resource Matters, Jimmy was already a well-known leader in Congolese civil society on natural resource governance, both in the resource-rich province of Ituri — known for its gold and oil reserves — and at the national level. For more than a decade, he coordinated the Ituri Civil Society Platform on Natural Resources and contributed to numerous research, advocacy and policy initiatives on mining, petroleum and energy governance. He has also been actively involved in the process of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in the DRC, serving as a member of its Executive Committee between 2017 and 2024.

A lawyer by training, Jimmy holds a law degree from the University of Goma. He is also a member of the Bar of the Ituri Court of Appeal and has taught at the University of Bunia.

Jimmy brings extensive experience in research, advocacy and civil society mobilisation to promote transparent and accountable natural resource governance in the DRC.
