Round table : Congo's lithium

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), already a major player in strategic minerals, is preparing to become a lithium exporter, particularly through the development of part of the Manono deposits. This development represents a major economic opportunity, an international geostrategic issue, and a challenge for governance and local development.

The development of the lithium sector will depend on many factors: decisions regarding the allocation of permits and contracts, regulatory and fiscal stability, the ability to attract strong operators, the proactive management of social and environmental impacts, as well as local processing and industrialization.

In this context, Resource Matters invites representatives of various stakeholders — government, state institutions, diplomats, companies, and civil society — to a high-level closed-door roundtable to initiate strategic reflections on the lithium sector in the DRC.
