Side Event EU Raw Materials Week 2024 : Cobalt due diligence

In December 2024, Resource Matters and the International Peace Information Service (IPIS), with the support of the EU Raw Materials Coalition, co-organized an expert roundtable during EU Raw Materials Week on “Enhancing due diligence in the cobalt supply chain in the DRC.”

The session brought together representatives of Congolese civil society, industry stakeholders, and European policymakers to strengthen dialogue on due diligence in the cobalt sector.

The roundtable aimed to promote supply chain transparency, foster dialogue between cobalt users and affected communities, and address environmental risks linked to mining activities.

Resource Matters also presented its Cobalt Supply Chain Platform and helped identify practical ways to align corporate practices with European requirements, supporting a more responsible and sustainable cobalt sector in the DRC.
