The United States and the European Union are seeking access to strategic minerals for the energy transition located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia.

To reduce transportation costs and time, they are supporting a project on the Lobito Corridor, which was launched by the DRC, Angola, and Zambia in October 2023. This project aims to rehabilitate more than 1,300 kilometers of railway tracks to connect Zambia and the DRC to the Atlantic Ocean via Angola.

In Angola and Zambia, progress is taking shape. On the DRC side, renovation work on the Dilolo-Kolwezi railway line has been slow to begin.

In this new episode of the podcast “Qui perd, qui gagne?”, ACTUALITE.CD, in partnership with Resource Matters, reveals the inside story of the Lobito Corridor project.
