Podcast - Qui perd, qui gagne ? Ep. 3 : “ Sicomines agreement”
The DRC is expected to receive $324 million annually through 2040 to fund its infrastructure projects under the renegotiated Sicomines contract, the major agreement between China and the DRC. However, the country could run the risk of never seeing any of that money if the price per ton of copper falls below $8,000.
Why was this contract renegotiated? How much will the DRC receive as a result of the negotiations? And how much will it lose due to the tax exemptions granted to Sicomines?
To better understand these issues, ACTUALITE.CD, in partnership with Resource Matters, presents this podcast, “Qui perd, qui gagne? Episode 3” and reveals the inside story of the Sicomines project.
