Christian Mbenga

Electricity Coordinator

Christian Kabongo Mbenga is Electricity Coordinator at Resource Matters, where he leads the organisation’s work on identifying and promoting cost-effective electrification solutions across the Democratic Republic of Congo. He coordinates research, modelling and stakeholder engagement to support evidence-based energy planning and expand access to electricity.

In this role, Christian works closely with civil society organisations through the Mwangaza network and engages with public and private stakeholders through the Core Group, a multi-institutional platform bringing together key actors in the electricity sector to develop and discuss electrification strategies. He also contributes to energy demand surveys, provincial diagnostics and capacity-building activities on modelling tools used to analyse electrification pathways in the country.

Before joining Resource Matters, Christian worked on environmental research and geospatial data analysis with organisations including the Food and Agriculture Organization and the Lukuru Foundation, where he supported field research, GIS data processing and mapping related to natural resource management and conservation.

Christian holds an advanced master’s degree in Forest Management and Land Use Planning from the ERAIFT in Kinshasa and a master’s degree in forestry from the University of Kinshasa.
