Congolese participation in the capital of mining companies has been enshrined in the Mining Code since 2018. However, as the moratorium granted to mining companies expired on July 31, 2026, the effective implementation of this provision continues to face several challenges. Who will actually be able to acquire these shares? How can we ensure their transparency and prevent them from being monopolized by a minority? In this new episode of our podcast “Who loses, who wins, and who really benefits from the DRC’s mining resources,” we explore the stakes of this reform that could make Congolese genuine shareholders of their mining wealth.
